RYO

Scalp care for rich, luxuriant and silken hair. Yulryo (律呂): Vitality through harmony. The Eastern philosophy describes the energy of the sky as Yul (律) and that of the ground as Ryo (呂). Yul is positive energy while Ryo is negative energy.Yul is also the outside and Ryo the inside. When Yul and Ryo achieve balance, they come together in a dynamic yet beautifully balanced state. This perfect state is called Yulryo. Hair is Yul and the scalp is Ryo, the ground for hair. Ryo is a hair care brand with the belief that a healthy scalp is the key to youthful, luxuriant, silky and healthy hair. Every hair problem—hair loss, thinning and loose hair and rough hair—stems from the scalp. Ryo brings the scalp back to its best possible condition. That’s what Yulryo is.

The long journey toward beautiful and healthy hair

To discover the most ideal ingredient, true to the brand philosophy, Ryo sought out a fundamental solution rather than a product that was only temporarily beneficial. Nearly 60 experts in eight fields from cosmetic ingredients, scalp care, fragrance and human organism came together with one common goal. They went through a series of failures but their ten years of combined efforts eventually bore fruit. They successfully proved the safety and efficacy of medicinal herbs for hair loss treatment. The final products made of medicinal herbs were tested over 100 households where they successfully demonstrated their excellence through clinical tests with a panel of more than 500 members.

Black, Luxuriant Silky Hair (Heukyunsaenggi; 黑潤生氣)

The ideal of beautiful hair in the days long-ago. Light, natural makeup (damjang; 淡粧)and black, luxuriant silky hair (黑潤生氣). Noble women in the Joseon Dynasty period sought light, natural makeup (淡粧). It was the complete opposite of heavy makeup (nongjang; 濃粧). Light makeup with only a minimal use of colors in the pursuit of a natural yet elegant beauty with a skin complexion as fresh as the fresh water springs and a wealth of black, thick and healthy hair—that is what noble women of the day thought of beauty. Middle-class women could not wear makeup but they still took care of their hair every day using hair oil. Camellia and caster beans were the most commonly used ingredients for hair oil. They did not leave hair sticky but did give a long-lasting shine and pleasant fragrance. Even in those days when living was not easy, women took such good care of their hair.

Korean Ginseng – The most valuable ingredient, Korean ginseng

Ginseng saponin for strong healthy roots – Ryo discovered that saponins help prevent hair loss. Ginseng saponins particularly increase the multiplication of follicle cells, which means the more follicle cells, the stronger the hair roots are, thus resulting in less hair falling.

Remarkable hair healing effect of ginseng – Through the study of ginseng and its effects on hair, Ryo found that ginseng is capable of healing damaged hair. In an experiment, a dose of ginseng extract helped heal brittle pieces of hair and restore a healthy shine.

Slowing down the aging of the scalp – Ginseng is well known as a powerful antioxidant. In the sense that ginseng restores energy to the body, improves blood circulation and prevents the premature aging of vessels, it is obvious how ginseng can help improve the health of the scalp and hair. In addition, it stimulates the biosynthesis of proteins in the body and DNA. It boosts the regeneration of skin cells and consequently, the scalp ages three times slower than it would naturally.
